A charming two-bedroom lodge, complete with hot tub, on the owner’s farm tucked away in the Upper Nithsdale Valley with a horse livery business, wildlife, rescue animals and walks from the doorstep. The lodge is detached and private, nestled in a deep glen in the Nithsdale Valley with the River Nith running through the grounds. Fishing is available on site, catch and release, free of charge, just bring your own rod (seasonal laws apply). Walks can be taken directly from the door with wildlife in abundance, including birds of prey, roe deer and otters. A beautiful haven for bird watchers and photographers. There is plenty to do with entertainment for all the family both on and off site.
The west-facing terrace with garden furniture or the private hot tub are perfect for sitting in and watching the bird life, donkeys and sunsets. Or you can come and meet all the animals here. There are several animals on the farm. In the few short months the owner has lived here, she has developed the farm into a sanctuary for some rescue animals. So far there are four dalmatian and dalmatian cross dogs, three of whom are rescues, who will all want to say hello and have a cuddle with you. There are also several other very friendly rescues including two donkeys, two mini Shetlands and an ex-racehorse, a Welsh pony as well as two ducks, sheep and several other horses. You are most welcome to say hello to all of them. This is a working farm and equestrian site and also the dogs’ home who will not be shut away for your stay. Please also be aware with smaller children that the new rescue dogs, although very friendly and brilliant with children, are still in training for introducing themselves calmly so please be patient with them. If you or your children do not like dogs, please be aware that this location will not be suitable as a holiday location. If you prefer to stay indoors there’s still plenty to do with a Smart TV, DVD player, Wi-Fi and lots of board games.

Ayrshire is home to the Ayrshire Coastal Path, a 100-mile long coastal walk with one of the finest panoramic coastlines in the British Isles. Golf courses and Ayr race course nearby. Ayr is around a 30-minute drive with its beautiful sandy beach. The Galloway Forest Park is only a 20-minute drive away and is Britains largest forest park with three hundred square miles of wild beauty waiting to be explored. The park boasts tranquil valleys, rugged rock faces, forest, moorland, lochs and ancient woodland and a huge diversity of wildlife including red and roe deer, wild goats and many birds of prey and has also been awarded the status of one of only four Dark Sky Parks in the western world and when the sun sets enthusiasts come to wonder at the universe revealed above.
