Seaton Sluice is a hidden gem along this part of the coast with unspoilt beaches and a pretty estuary. This is the perfect location for visiting Tynemouth, a vibrant seaside town with upmarket bistros and cafés, Tynemouth Priory and some bespoke shops popular with locals as well as visitors. You can walk from Seaton Sluice on the seafront onto Whitley Bay then further along to Cullercoats and Tynemouth.

Longsands Beach at Tynemouth is a nationally recognised water sports hub where surfers gather frequently to enjoy the waves, even holding national competitions here. Tynemouth has a Blue Reef Aquarium and a small mini-golf. Only 3 miles away is Whitley Bay with the beautiful regenerated Spanish City housing a champagne bar, restaurant and galleries, and there is a lovely promenade perfect for strolling on an evening.

You can catch the metro into Newcastle upon Tyne to explore this friendly historic city. The location is central so travelling further up the Heritage Coast or west over to Hadrian’s Wall and Kielder Dark Sky Park all make great days out. Come back and relax after a day exploring, light the wood burner in the family-size kitchen/dining room and enjoy some relaxation.
