Property Description

Unique and stylish are just two adjectives to describe Sunfold. An architect-designed detached house, the property lies in the village of Llechryd, just 3 miles inland from Cardigan Bay. Nestled in an elevated position, the house sits beyond its own private gated entrance, and offers secluded and enclosed gardens, boastong an enclosed toddler play space, with fantastic views over the Teifi Valley and the countryside. Ideally situated for a large family, this house definitely has the ’wow’ factor, with huge, full height feature windows that frame the view and flood the building with light throughout the entertaining and social spaces.

There’s an extremely spacious open plan living/dining room/kitchen with a catering sized range cooker, an eye-level wood burner and large bi-folding doors which open out onto a spacious decked terrace, ideal for al-fresco dining. There is a second living room (snug) with a large TV for a cosy evening relaxing. The ground floor also benefits from a double bedroom with its own sofas to make Sunfold ideal for a large ’multi-generational’ family get-together. There are front and rear lawned gardens to enjoy as well. Upstairs, there are four bedrooms, the master bedroom being en-suite, as well as a separate family bathroom with a double bath and built-in TV.

The setting is perfect for making the most of both coast and countryside, with the superb scenery of the Preseli Mountains and Pembrokeshire National Park within easy reach. You can walk from the property into the village of Llechryd and join up with a walk that will take you directly to the Wildlife Trust Centre at Cilgerran, where there is also a castle. Visit the Teifi Valley and Gwili steam railways or the National Wool Museum at Drefach Felindre. The ancient town of Cardigan sits on the river estuary at the base of Cardigan Bay, and offers an array of shops, cafés, restaurants, cinema and theatre, as well as being home to a lovely castle, often the setting for outdoor events and with a panoramic restaurant. During the summer, an unusual tepee sets up in the town, offering dining under a canvas accompanied by live music on many weekends.

Pursuits such as golf, pony trekking and fly fishing on the River Teifi are all available, and the Coracle Centre at Cenarth Falls (famous for its seasonal salmon leap) can all be found within a few minutes’ drive. The sandy beaches of Poppit, Mwnt, Tresaith and Penbryn are an easy drive away, and many of the Ceredigion beaches are dog friendly throughout the year. A little further north along the Ceredigion Heritage Coast are the picturesque seaside villages of Aberporth and New Quay, where you can take a boat trip to spot some bottlenose dolphins.

World-famous, award-winning Caws Cenarth cheese is a must-try during your stay – why not take some home as a reminder of this special region of Wales with its thriving cultural identity? It’s perfect for a weekend break or a longer stay, with award-winning beaches, sandy coves, sea cliffs, caves and wonderful wildlife, spectacular sunsets and star-studded skies. Come and explore, make Sunfold your base and appreciate what a superb holiday home it is. Beach 5 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile.
