The adjacent kitchen is a picture of simple contemporary design, with glossy handless cabinets, built-in appliances and a fabulous island unit housing a modern induction hob and breakfast bar seating. With the wonderful Costa del Sol climate, making the most of the outdoor lifestyle is part and parcel of any holiday here and with the gas barbecue outside on the patio those grilled gambas or sizzling steaks will take just minutes to prepare.

The accommodation at La Estrella is designed for flexibility and ease, with three of the bedrooms located on the ground floor and three more upstairs on the first floor. It works particularly well for two families, respecting each other’s privacy while enjoying fun time together. All the rooms are pristine and well-presented, with the bath and shower rooms boasting stylish, ultra-modern fixtures and fittings.

There’s plenty to keep guests occupied without ever leaving the villa, though of course it would be unthinkable not to at least dip your toes in the sea or enjoy a paella in one of the area’s excellent eateries during your stay. The lower ground floor games room comes complete with football table, pool table, fridge and TV, a great place for older children to hang out together or for the more competitive among you to pot a few balls over some cold beers.

Outside on the impressive deck, the infinity-style saltwater pool is simply irresistible, with an incredible view even from the water. Sun loungers, sofas and an outdoor dining suite offer plenty of options for relaxing in the sunshine while a dip in the Jacuzzi under the twinkling stars is a must.

For golfers, La Estrella’s inspiring location is second to none, with plenty of opportunities to play not only the resort’s own two exceptional courses, Los Olivos and Los Lagos, but also dozens of other courses along this famous coastline. The resort itself has a number of restaurants on site, though more are to be found in the little town of Mijas as well as the much larger resort of Fuengirola. There’s also a popular waterpark close by as well as wonderful blue flag beaches.
