Close by are Holkham, with the splendid Palladian Holkham Hall housing a fine collection of art and furniture, and Wells-next-the-Sea, an amiable fishing village with quayside stalls selling freshly caught produce. A short drive away is Sandringham House, magnificent holiday home of the Royal Family since 1861; further inland, within an hour’s drive, are the Broads and the historic city of Norwich.
